It’s true! On April 29 and 30, 2022, Myotonic goats and their breeders will join together at the birthplace of our state to participate in the Texas Myotonic Show Down. For the fourth time, a Myotonic Goat Registry show that is open to the public will be held at the Washington County Festival Grounds in Brenham, Texas.
From the East to the West, North to the South, the Texas Myotonic Show Down brings people together. It is an opportunity to see the very best and learn about this remarkable breed.
Just a short time ago, this American heritage breed was on the Livestock Conservancy's Threatened list. Now, through participation in MGR shows, these goats have earned respect that has contributed to their comeback. Today, Myotonic goats offer excellence in health, worm tolerance and heavy muscling, vital hereditary tools for future generations of all breeds of goats.
We want you to relax, enjoy, have fun, make new friends, learn and participate in the preservation of this American Heritage Breed. After all, Texas means "friendly."
